The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles got some big hits and solid pitching on Friday night as they knocked off the Straughn Lady Tigers 10-1 on Friday night in the opening round of the Andalusia Bulldog Bash softball tournament in Andalusia.

In the top of the first inning, the Lady Eagles got a few solid hits, but also took advantage of several Straughn errors to go on top 3-0.

Amy Bulger put the Lady Eagles on top 2-0 when she drove in Hope Gunter and Sissy Martin with a double in the opening frame.

In the top the second inning, Gunter drew a bases-loaded walk that allowed Bella Worley to score.

Bulger picked up another RBI a few batters later when she drove in Abby Walker with a single.

Bulger’s night at the plate wasn’t over just yet as she stepped in and belted a two-run bomb to left that gave the Lady Eagles a 10-0 lead.

“I really felt like we played much better tonight,” Pleasant Home head coach Jessica Gibson said. “We had a tough loss last night to Kinston, but we played much better tonight. We hit the ball well and Ava Bailey pitched amazing. We have only been playing for two weeks and this was just our fourth game, so we have a lot to improve. I hope to see improvement and our goal everyday is get better.”

Pleasant Home will play Carroll-Ozark today at 10:30 a.m.

“It’s hard to win when you spot them about eight runs on several errors in the first two innings,” Straughn head coach Kenny Skipper said.

The Lady Tigers will play Carroll-Ozarktoday  at 9 a.m.
