Lady Eagles power past Andalusia

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles knocked off the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs 9-0 on Monday night in Andalusia behind a stellar pitching performance from Ava Bailey.

In the top of the second inning, Rae Rae Coleman reached first off of an error and the quickly stole second.

Bella Worley grounded out to third for the second out, but Coleman was able to move around to third base.

Taylor McGhee launched a fly ball to the center that was misplayed and allowed Coleman to score the first run of the contest.

The Lady Bulldogs got a leadoff single from Sydney Ray to start the bottom of the second inning, but Bailey was able to retire the side without allowing the runner to score.

In the top of the third inning, the Lady Bulldogs got two quick outs to start the frame, but the Lady Eagles rallied with two outs.

Sissy Martin got it started with a single to left field followed by a single to Abbey Walker.

The Lady Eagles loaded up the bases when Amy Bulger reached on fielder’s indecision.

Coleman then blew the game up when she ripped a triple over the center fielder’s head allowing all three Lady Eagle runners to score for a 4-0 advantage.

After a walk to Worley, McGhee pushed a single into the hole to score Coleman from third with ease.

The Lady Eagles added to their lead in the top of the fifth inning when Tammi Hilson drove in Worley and McGhee with a single.

In the top of the sixth inning, a walk, two errors and a double from Bulger allowed the Lady Eagles to go up 9-0.

“I thought we played very well,” Pleasant Home head coach Jessica Gibson said. “It was definitely a team effort. Not one person was excluded from tonight’s outcome. The players in each position played well and they were unified in the dugout rooting each other on during each pitch. Both on offense and defense.”
