The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles look to keep their season going as they take on Highland Home Friday in the opening round of the 2017 AHSAA Class 1A South Regional softball tournament in Gulf Shores.

“We take everything one step at a time,” Lady Eagles’ head coach Jessica Gibson said. “One game, one pitch, one hit and one ground ball at a time. Our first phase here is to win game one and so on until we qualify for state.”

Gibson said that the Lady Eagles have some experience at regionals and they understand what’s at stake.

“We have three seniors on this team that a veterans of this tournament,” Gibson said. “They know what it takes to compete here and what it takes to make it out and into state. At this point, if you lose two games, that’s it you are going home. Our goal is to just focus on the task at hand. Those three seniors have done great things for this program in their careers and they are the ones we are looking to lead us to state.”

The Lady Eagles and Highland Home will play Friday at 1:30 p.m.
