On Tues., May 16, Straughn High School Jobs for Alabama’s Graduates students hosted a dinner at the Andalusia Chamber of Commerce. Students were taught proper etiquette for the two previous weeks and tested out via an etiquette quiz. The top 25 students were invited to attend the dinner.

“This is such a needed ‘soft skill.’ ” Covington County Schools curriculum coordinator Nikki Guilford said. “People underestimate the importance of proper etiquette. Obviously, it is polite but the even greater is the boost in confidence it gives these kids. There will come a situation in each of their futures where they will be at a dinner table with someone they need to impress. The confidence in knowing you “can do this” is so very important!”

Maggie Jones, assistant director of the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce, said, “The Chamber is proud to know that educators in our area take the initiative to expose young adults in our community to proper etiquette and prepare them for a successful career and future.”
