Storm system will make for rainy week here; almost 3 inches of rain to fall

`The tropical system in the Gulf could officially become Tropical Storm Cindy, or a sub-tropical storm later today. And while the storm is expected to move ashore in Louisiana, forecasters say impacts will be felt far to the east, and Andalusia could get 2.85 inches of rain between now and Friday.

The rain forecast map also shows Florala in the “elevated threat” area, with a prediction of 3.08 inches of rain. Brewton could receive more than 4 inches, and beach areas could get as much as 10 inches of rain.

The National Weather Service released its latest forecast at 4 a.m. today, and said there is increasing confidence of the following threats:

  • Heavy rain & flooding: Today thru at least Thursday
  • High Risk of Rip Currents & High Surf: Today thru at least Thursday
  • Coastal flooding: Today thru at least Thursday
  • Tropical storm conditions (frequent gusts) over Alabama & northwest Florida Gulf waters: Today thru Wednesday
  • Breezy conditions along immediate coast: 20-30mph with occasional higher gusts
