The Pleasant Home Eagles clawed their way back, but fell to Zion Chapel 27-22 Friday night in Zion Chapel.

“We just didn’t execute,” Pleasant Home head coach Rick Mercer said. “After watching them on film, we knew they were going to be one of the best coached teams that we played, and they were.”

Zion Chapel got things started strong and went up by two scores early in the contest.

Pleasant Home scratched back with a 56-yard touchdown run from Nic Woods to cut the Zion Chapel lead.

The Eagles looked like they might score again just before the half, but an interception on the Zion Chapel 3-yard line led to another Zion Chapel touchdown.

At halftime, Zion Chapel was on top 27-8.

The Eagles got a 10-yard touchdown from Robert Scott and then Woods closed out the scoring with a 59-yard touchdown catch.

Woods finished the game with eight catches for 157 yards and one touchdown. Woods also added a rushing touchdown.

Pleasant Home will hit the road next week with a trip to Wadley for the opening round of the Class 1A state playoffs.
