PHS Eagles split with T.R. Miller

The Pleasant Home Eagles split varsity contests on Friday night with T.R. Miller in Pleasant Home.

BOYS

PLEASANT HOME 60,

T.R. MILLER 50

In the final game of the evening the Eagles were able to get a W, beating T.R. Miller Tigers 60-50.

Robert Scott led the Eagles with 21 points, then Austin Kelley with 15, Tyler Myrick with seven, Nic Woods with six and Brady Sowards with 5.

GIRLS

PLEASANT HOME 36

The Lady Eagles were not able to push a win out on Friday night against the Lady Tigers in Pleasant Home 46-36.

The Lady Eagles opened up the game with a layup from River Baldwin, but was answered with a 3-pointer by the Lady Tigers.

Baldwin got fouled on a layup and made the free throw to give the Lady Eagles a 6-3 lead early in the first period.

At the end of the first period, the Tigers scored a 3-pointer to go up 8-6, but was quickly answered by another layup from Baldwin to tie up the score.

The Lady Eagles seemed to struggle with fouls all second period, while T.R. Miller drove up the score, scoring 19 points in the second period.

At halftime, the Lady Tigers were in the lead 27-14.

The Lady Eagles were able to fight back a little in the third quarter keeping the Lady Tigers down by only letting them scoring five points, but they were still down by 10 points.

Heading into the fourth, the Lady Tigers were up 32-22.

The Lady Eagles kept on battling in the fourth quarter, but were struggling to keep the ball in their possession.

The Lady Tigers were able to score 10 points only on free throws.

Baldwin gave a little push for the Lady Eagles by scoring 12 points in the fourth period, but it was not enough, because the Lady Tigers were able to score 10 points only on free throws accompanied by two layups to keep a solid lead until the end of the game.

Baldwin led the Lady Eagles with 27 points.

The Lady Eagles were on a 9 game win streak until the loss Friday night and are now 21-5 overall and still 6-0 in area play.

The Lady Eagles will host the AHSAA Class 1A Area Tournament with Houston County and Kinston facing off at 5:30 p.m. on Mon., Feb. 5.

The Lady Eagles will play against Florala at 7 p.m. on Monday.

The winners of those two games will continue on to the finals at 6 p.m. on Thurs., Feb. 8.

The Pleasant Home varsity boys will be traveling to Florala for their area tournament and will face Houston County at 5:30 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 6.
