LADY TIGERS ON A ROLL: Red Level softball picks up 5th-straight win

The Red Level Lady Tigers brought their brooms to Greenville as they came away with a two-game road sweep on Friday afternoon in Greenville.

GAME ONE

RED LEVEL 5,

GREENVILLE 0

Red Level opened up the day with a big 5-0 victory over Greenville.

Elizabeth Cross worked around a one-out walk in the bottom of the second inning as she picked up two strikeouts.

Alyssa Stewart singled to start the top of the second inning, but couldn’t come around to score.

Cross picked up two more strikeouts in the bottom of second inning.

In the bottom of the third inning, Cross struck out the side.

Both teams continued to battle, but neither could bring a run across the plate.

Cross struck out the first batter she faced in the bottom of the fourth inning and then got a ground out from the next batter.

After giving up a two-out walk, Cross struck out the next batter to end the inning.

In the top of the sixth inning, Tori Hall singled with one out to get the Red Level offense off and rolling.

Summer Beverly then came through with a single.

Red Level loaded the bases with a single from Stewart.

Olivia Whitefield then put Red Level on top when she drove in Hall with a single to right field.

Red Level then went up 2-0 with a single from Graysie Lee.

Alexis Perdue then cleared the ducks off the pond when she ripped a double to center field.

Cross then closed out the game to give Red Level a 5-0 victory.

Perdue finished the game 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

Cross struck out 14 in the complete-game shutout.

GAME TWO

RED LEVEL 8,

GREENVILLE 2

In the final game of the day, Red Level out battled Greenville for an 8-2 victory.

Kaitlyn Beverly reached off of a one-out error in the bottom of the first inning and then quickly stole second.

Kaliyah Whitaker followed with a double to center field that put Red Level on top 1-0.

Greenville picked up a single to start the bottom of the first inning and then a two-out error allowed them to tie the game.

Greenville then got a double to put them up 2-1 heading into the second inning.

In the bottom of the second inning, K. Beverly struck out the side as she worked around a one-out walk.

S. Beverly reached off of an error to start the top of the third inning and then stole second.

K. Beverly followed with a single that allowed Red Level to tie the game.

Whitaker then grounded into a fielder’s choice to put Red Level on top 3-2.

K. Beverly struck out the first two batters and kept Red Level on top going into the fourth inning.

Dakota Wawrzyniak drew a walk and then Kayley Ayers drew a walk.

S. Beverly followed with a single to load the bases.

Whitaker then drove in a run with a fielder’s choice.

In the bottom of the fourth, Greenville got a single to start things, but K. Beverly then struck out the next three batters.

Ruby Cooper reached first on a fielder’s choice and moved to second base after Wawrzyniak drew a walk.

S. Beverly then drove in Cooper to put Red Level on top 6-2.

A few batters later, Whitaker doubled to give Red Level an 8-2 lead.

K. Beverly struck out three batters in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Red Level an 8-2 victory.

Whitaker led Red Level with five RBIs.

K. Beverly struck out 13 batters, gave up just four hits and allowed no earned runs.
