The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce plans a three-concert July Jamz series this summer.

Chamber Executive Director Chrissie Duffy presented the summer plans to the Andalusia City Council on Tuesday.

Because July 4 falls on Thursday, the concert series will begin on July 11, and continue on July 18 and 25.

The tentative lineup includes:

• July 11 – Park Band, a rock group from Troy. Yacht Band will open for them.

• July 18 – Accent, a Montgomery-based Motown band. The Straughn High School String Band will open for them.

• July 25 – The Springs, a country music band from Enterprise. Ten Mile Branch will open for them.

As in the past, gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

Duffy said the Chamber is not seeking funding from the city for this year’s event.

“We are able to cover the costs with sponsorships,” Duffy said. “We’ll have three title sponsors, and sponsorships for the stage.”

As in the past, the event will include the foam machine, a misting tent, and fireworks.

“This has taken on a life of its own,” Mayor Earl Johnson said. “We have a lot of residents who are very excited about this.”

This will be the fifth year for the free community event.
