Falls to Brantley, Isabella at South Regional

The Red Level Lady Tigers saw their season come to an end on Thursday night in the 2019 AHSAA Class 1A South Regional tournament in Gulf Shores.

BRANTLEY 17,

RED LEVEL 0

Red Level never quit fighting, but fell to the Brantley Lady Bulldogs 17-0 in the first round of the South Regional tournament.

Liz Cross got things started for the Lady Tigers with a single to left field.

Brantley’s Lauren Hudson then got the next three batters out to end the frame.

Emory Bush walked to start the bottom of the first inning and then quickly stole second.

Olivia Jones then drove in Bush for a 1-0 Brantley lead.

The Lady Bulldogs loaded the bases with one-out, but Cross struck out a couple of batters to end the inning.

After a walk started the bottom of the second inning, Cross settled in and got the next three batters out.

After two innings of play, the Lady Bulldogs were up 1-0.

Cross picked up her second hit of the game with two outs in the top of the third inning.

Brantley turned it on in the bottom of the third inning as they jumped out to an 8-0 lead.

Alexus Perdue singled to start the top of the fourth inning, but the Lady Tigers couldn’t get anything else going.

Brantley capped off the game with a nine-run fourth inning to give them a 17-0 win.

ISABELLA 17,

RED LEVEL 12

The Lady Tigers put up a fight, but were eliminated from play with a 17-12 loss to Isabella.

Isabella went up 4-0 in the top of the first inning.

In the bottom of the first inning, Cross got things going with a single.

Perdue drew a one-out walk and then a single from Kaitlyn Beverly loaded up the bases.

Cross came around to score on a ground out to make the score 4-1.

Isabella’s lead went up to 8-1 in the top of the third inning.

Cross picked up her second hit of the game and then came around to score off of a fielder’s choice.

The Lady Tigers inched closer back into the game when Jayla Poindexter stole home.

Summer Beverly then stole home to make the score 8-4.

Maggie Wilkerson then came into score on ground out.

A few batters later, Cross singled for the third-straight trip and then scored on a single from Perdue.

Isabella came back with a run in the top of the fifth to go up 9-6.

Isabella then went up 14-6 in the top of the sixth inning and went up 17-6 in the top of the seventh.

The Lady Tigers loaded the bases with a walk to Olivia Whitefield and then back-to-back singles from Perdue and K. Beverly.

A Stewart then drove in a run with a single to left field.

Poindexter then drove in a run with a ground out.

The Lady Tigers continued to battle as they scored a run off of an error to make the score 17-10.

K Ayers followed with a run-scoring single.

Cross picked up her fourth hit of the contest with a run-scoring single to center field.

However, Isabella was able to hold off the Lady Tigers to come away with a 17-12 victory.
