Pleasant Home has a new football coach.

The Covington County Board of Education approved the hire of Chris Mason as the Eagles new football coach at its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday night.

Mason, who will also serve as a social science teacher at PHS, was an assistant coach at Prattville Christian Academy.

PHS principal Craig Nichols said it was a long process to select a new coach for the Eagles’ football program.

“He’ll bring a lot of excitement to the program,” Nichols said.

Mason will guide a Pleasant Home team who finished 2-8 last season. Prattville Christian went 3-7.

Mason replaces former coach Cody McCain, who was hired as Clements’ new football coach in April.
