The Pleasant Home junior varsity Eagles defeated the Highland Home Flying Squadron 37-33 Tuesday night in Pleasant Home.

The Eagles spread the ball around nicely in the first period, and held an 11-1 lead at the end of the period. The Eagles’ Robert Scott had 5 points in the period, and went 1-for-two from the free throw line.

In the second, the Eagles’ defense continued to create turnovers with tight pressure on the ball handlers. Scott and Tyler Myrick each had 2 points for the Eagles.

The Squadron started fighting back in the third with 13 points, in the period. They cut the Eagles’ lead from 14 points to 9 points heading in the third. Michael Ward had two big buckets for the Eagles to help maintain the lead. At the end of three, the Eagles led 25-14.

In the final period, the Squadron continued improving on offense, and ended up making it a very close game. Ward came up in big way for the Eagles with 6 points, including 2-for-2 from the free throw line. The Eagles were able to hold for a 37-33 victory.

Scott led the Eagles with 13 points, and Ward finished with a solid 12 points.

“We played very well for three periods, but played a very bad fourth,” Eagles’ head coach Troy Turman said. “We are still learning to play together, and we have to get better with the fundamentals. If we can put it all together and play four complete periods we can be a good team.”
