Straughn B-team throttles Red Level

The Straughn Tigers’ B-team took care of business against the Red Level Tigers Tuesday night for a 52-14 victory.

 

The host Tigers shot out to a 14-4 lead in the first period. Allen George led the charge with 5 points, and Cutter Gafford pitched in 3 points. Keith Heiken, Hank Peeples and Ethan Wilson each had 2 points.

 

Cade Mancil and Billy Wright each had 2 points for Red Level’s only points in the first period.

 

Straughn stretched the lead, against the much younger Red Level team, to 29-11 at halftime. Wilson had the hot hand for Straughn in the second period, and turned in 8 points to boost the host squad. Gafford had 2 more points for Straughn in the period.

 

Kade Green had the biggest single period scoring total for Red Level with 5 points in the second.  Mancil chipped in 2 more points.

 

Straughn’s defense stiffened in the second half, and only allowed Red Level to score 3 points the remainder of the contest. Straughn continued to score at well, and went up 48-14 heading into the final period. Heiken and Wilson each had 6 points for Straughn in the third. Peeples pitched in 5 points in the period.

 

Mancil had a lone 3-pointer in the third period for Red Level’s only basket. It would be there last score of the contest.

 

Straughn shut out Red Level in the final period, and Gafford added 4 points to give Straughn a 52-14 victory.

 

Mancil led Red Level with 7 points, and Green tacked on 5 points for the visiting Tigers.

 

Wilson led Straughn with 16 points, and Gafford turned in a 9-point performance.
