The seventh-ranked Pleasant Home Eagles split wins with Cottage Hill Christian Academy in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Pleasant Home.
The Eagles (16-7, 4-0 in Class 1A, Area 3) dominated on defense in the first game and held the Warriors to no runs, winning 2-0.
However, in the second game, Cottage Hill beat Pleasant Home 6-2, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to seal the win.

The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning, when Pleasant Home scored its two runs on three hits.
Colter Poole led with a single and later scored on an RBI double from Sid Newby.
Newby later came around on an RBI single from Josh Godwin.
Winning pitcher Blake Herman allowed five hits, one walk, no runs and struck out three batters in seven innings of work.
“Blake just pitched a heck of a game,” Pleasant Home coach Bradley Stephens said. “The defense in that first game was a big key. I don’t even think we had an error. Our bats came alive toward the end. The key was when Sid hit a double up the third base side and it was a heck of a hit. He did a great job.”
Stephens added that overall in the first game, the team played well.
Godwin was 1-for-3 with one single; Ethan King was 1-for-3 with one double; Justin Holt was 1-for-3 with one single; Poole was 1-for-3 with one single and one run; and Newby was 2-for-2 with one single, one double, one RBI and one run.

Cottage Hill scored one run in the first inning, one in the fifth and four in the sixth inning to force a doubleheader split with Pleasant Home.
“We started out sluggish,” Stephens said. “We made a few errors right off the bat. We just got behind. It was a good game. The score didn’t reflect the way we played.”
Pleasant Home scored its first run in the fifth inning on a solo home run from Godwin.
The Eagles’ last run came in the seventh inning on an RBI single from Godwin to score Newby.
Godwin was 3-for-4 with two singles, one home run and one RBI; Herman was 1-for-4 with one double; Fernando Torres was 1-for-3 with one single; Holt was 1-for-3 with one single; Hunter Weaver was 1-for-3 with one single; and Newby was 1-for-3 with one single and one run.
