Pleasant Home softball coach Jimmy Reeves said his team will have to play “a lot better” today on the second day of the Class 1A, Area 3 tournament to have a chance at advancing to the South Regional tournament in Gulf Shores next weekend.
“We’re still not playing well,” Reeves said about the day. “Kinston just whupped us. They hit the ball real well and we didn’t.
“Then, we had another good game with Florala,” he said. “They were up on us 3-0 and we finally started to hit the ball a little bit. We’ve got to play a lot better (today) in order to have a chance.”
Pleasant Home plays McKenzie in the loser’s bracket elimination game at 2 today in Kinston.
The Lady Eagles began Thursday’s first day of the tournament beating Florala, 8-3.
In the loser’s bracket, McKenzie defeated Florala 8-7 after falling to Kinston 14-1 in its first game.
In the final game, Kinston defeated Pleasant Home 8-0.
Pleasant Home’s Robyn Weaver hit a home run in the game against Florala, and Jordan McGee prevented Kinston from pitching a no-hitter.
