B-team basketball coach Bradley Stephens recognized each member of the team, and gave out certificates for their efforts this season.

Then, the varsity boys head basketball coach Jerry Davis talked about the season the Eagles had in 2009-10, and gave a short speech about each player on the team, especially the seniors.

“It’s been a very enjoyable season,” Stephens said. “I thank you for your hard work.”

Five players on the team batted better than .300. They were Godwin, Colter Poole, Herman, King and Newby.

He recognized the junior varsity team, and gave a special thanks to assistant coach Frankie Wiggins.

The Lady Eagles wrapped up their season Thursday at the Class 1A state tournament in Montgomery, where they finished in fifth place.

Some of their other accomplishments include finishing in third place at the Andalusia softball tournament, claiming the PHS invitational championship and winning the regional championship in Gulf Shores.

This season, the Lady Eagles made their eighth consecutive trip to the state tournament.

“All that they did this year was very surprising,” Reeves said.
