Pleasant Home led 33-30 over Georgiana with two minutes remaining in its contest at the Straughn Christmas Shoot Out Saturday, but the Eagles fell to the Panthers 35-33.

Eagles coach Jerry Davis said the team “played about as well as they could play.”

“It was a good high school basketball game,” Davis said. “We had to use some depth. There were some kids playing that hadn’t played much, but we’ve got a chance.

“They’ve got a grit about them,” he said.

Georgiana led 9-6 after the first period, and 23-14 at half time. Then, the Panthers extended their lead to 26-20 at the end of the third period.

Cory Sims led the Eagles with 12 points, and Lance Davis added nine points.

The Eagles fall to 6-4 on the season, and will travel to play McKenzie on Thursday.
