Three Pleasant Home Lady Eagles scored in double figures on Friday night to help lead their team to a 57-25 homecoming area victory over Kinston.
“We had a big win tonight,” a happy PHS girls coach Kelley Garner said. “We played well. We finally got some shots to fall for us early and often. We moved the ball well. They shot the ball well for us, and we played good defense.”
Taylor Godwin led the Lady Eagles with 15 points. Raven Woods scored 13 points, and Kendra Bryan had 11 points in the win.
The Lady Eagles improve to 8-10 overall, and 3-2 in Class 1A, Area 2. They will play Geneva County next Tues., Jan. 25 in Pleasant Home to make up for an earlier post-poned game. The girls will tip off at 5 p.m.
Garner, who was celebrating her 20-year class reunion on Friday night, said the win was a good way to end a good night.
“It was exciting to get the win,” he said. “I had a good night. I got to visit with a lot of classmates, and the girls played a good ball game. That made it even more enjoyable, especially when you win.”
In varsity boys action, Pleasant Home fell 52-35 to Kinston.
Cory Sims led the Eagles with 14 points.
The boys will tip off at around 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday night, right after the girls. They fall to 12-9 overall, and 3-2 on the season.
