Wheelchair-bound, nothing keeps J.J. Seice from being away from the sport he loves the most — basketball.

Seice was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, which is a disorder that effects brain and nervous system functions. In Seice’s case, the disorder mainly effects his movement.

On Jan. 8, Seice started his first job as the score keeper for youth basketball games.

Through his speaking device, which is attached to his wheelchair, Seice said he loves what he does.

“I love basketball,” he said with excitement.

Seice said he got the job through Andalusia youth sports coordinator Barbara Tyler.

“I called Barbara Tyler, and I asked her if there was a job opening,” he said.

During games, Seice mans the control clock in addition to keeping score.

Since the youth basketball season ends on Fri., Feb. 11, Seice said he hopes he can continue to keep score at a higher level.

“I’m trying to work in a school next year — at Straughn,” he said.

Seice is the son of Bill and Mary Seice of Andalusia.
