Pleasant Home’s Lady Eagles ended its season Thursday night, falling to Brantley 53-26 in the Class 1A sub regional tournament at BHS.

The Lady Eagles trailed the entire contest (18-3 after the first period, 30-10 at half time, and 40-19 after the third period).

“We played extremely hard,” PHS girls coach Kelley Garner said. “We had a good first quarter as far as defense goes, but we turned the ball over too much.

“They scored on lay ups and free throws,” she said. “We couldn’t put the ball in the hole, which has been the story for us all year. We’re young, we’ll regroup and get ready for next year.”

Raven Woods led the Lady Eagles with 11 points. Mary Schwartz had five points, Erica Bullard had four points, Courtney Slaughter had three points, Taylor Godwin had two points, and Ashley Williamson had one point.

“We knew that this year was a work in progress,” Garner added. “We hope that this has helped us, and hope to be better next year.”

The Lady Eagles finished their season with a 13-14 record, and will return everyone from this year’s team next year.

Garner said despite the loss, she’s proud of the team.

“Making it to the sub regional tournament was a great accomplishment since we are so young,” she said. “We had some young girls step up for us, and did a good job. We’re extremely proud we made it this far.”
