Red Level gets 1st win of season

Red Level began Friday night winless, and at halftime, it looked as if they’d end the game the same way.

But RLS came out a “different team” for the second half and outscored the visiting Tigers 20-8 to get a 33-30 win Friday night at Bobby Dye Field.

“It was a tail of two halves,” RLS head coach Tony Ingram said. “We challenged them at half time to step it up. We kind of played sloppy all around.

“It was one of those nights where the ball bounced up to them and not to us,” he said. “We’ll take a win, and move on (to the next opponent).”

Red Level will travel to play Class 1A’s McKenzie next week in regular season action.

Red Level’s Raheem Bullock scored on a punt return early in the contest, and Troy Grissett returned an interception for a touchdown to highlight the game.

Ingram did say that he “let in them” pretty good at half time.

“I told them, ‘we’re going to step out and y’all have got to come up with something,'” he said. “They had a team meeting and they came out a different team (for the second half).”
