Pleasant Home volleyball coach Jerry Davis said today’s match against area opponent and Class 1A powerhouse Kinston will give him a good idea of where the Lady Eagles are going this season.

“Kinston’s Kinston,” Davis said. “That’s all I can say. We’re looking forward to it.”

The Lady Eagles and Lady Bulldogs will go head-to-head today, starting right after the junior varsity squad, which begins play at 3:30.

Davis said the team will have to “block” well against the Lady Bulldogs.

“We’re gong to have to dig the ball a little bit, too,” he said. “They have one girl that’s an outstanding hitter. She’s bigger than all of us.”

Additionally, Pleasant Home will play host to a four-team, double-elimination volleyball tournament this Sat., Sept. 24, at the school.

Laurel Hill, W.S. Neal and Florala will also participate in the contest, which begins at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

Laurel Hill will play Florala first at 9 a.m., and Pleasant Home will play W.S. Neal at around 10 a.m. Each match will be played the best 2-out-of-3.

Then, the tournament will transition to the double-elimination round with winners and losers brackets.

Admission is $5 per person for an all-day pass.

“This is our first shot at doing something like this,” Davis said. “We’ll see how it goes. It gives us an opportunity to play three or four times in one day. If we get the chance to play at regionals, we’ll do it anyway.”
