Fourteen’s a really good number for Pleasant Home.

For the third week in a row, the Eagles have defeated their opponent by the same score, 14-13. Friday night’s contest in Samson was no different.

Pleasant Home topped the Tigers at Alva Hawk Stadium 14-13 to improve to 4-1 on the season.

The Eagles will travel to Brantley next week to kick off their second half of the season.

Samson got on the board early in the first quarter, capping off a 50-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown rush with 9:52 left on the clock.

After that, Pleasant Home didn’t allow another touchdown or field goal for the rest of the first half.

John Cole Chesser scored a 25-yard touchdown rush with 10:54 left in the second quarter. Kaleb Powell added the extra point and the game was tied going into half time.

Pleasant Home scored first in the second half after recovering a Samson turn over on the Eagles’ 40-yard line.

The Eagles drove to the end zone, where Chesser scored again from 12 yards out. Powell hit the PAT, and Pleasant Home led 14-7 with 3:52 remaining in the third quarter.

The Tigers answered, taking advantage of Pleasant Home’s tiredness, ending a 60-yard drive with a touchdown with 9:56 left in the contest. The PAT was no good as it sailed right of the pylon.

Pleasant Home sealed the win when senior quarterback Gabe Gunter intercepted the ball on a Samson pass with 1:27 left in the game.
