Another opportunity awaits RLS

Red Level will have another chance to get a win this Friday night as the Tigers play host to Zion Chapel at Bobby Dye Stadium.

This week’s region contest begins a three-game home stretch for the Tigers, who have one win this season.

The Rebels enter the game with two losses on their season. ZCHS fell 17-13 against Samson, and 65-0 against top-ranked Elba.

“They are very, very physical,” RLS head football coach Tony Ingram said. “I thought they were one of the more physical teams last year when we played them.

“They are well-coached,” he said.

The Tigers are coming off a 35-0 road loss to Highland Home, and Ingram said the players are feeling the pain of a one-win season.

“There’s no doubt that they are disappointed,” he said. “Nothing has gone like they wanted. This week is another opportunity to prove themselves.

“We’re snake-bit,” he added. “We need something good to happen for us. When we get down early, we look up and it’s just like we’re in quick sand.”

Zion Chapel sophomore quarterback LaMarcus Adair is atop Ingram’s radar and is a player that can change the scope of a game.

“He’s a very impressive player,” he said. “We played against him in junior high ball.

“They’re just a hard-nosed football team. They go after you,” he said.

Ingram said with three games left in the season, the players will play their hardest the rest of the way.

“They play harder at home,” he said. “We’re going to circle the wagons.”

Last week, Robert Underfinger suffered a concussion in Red Level’s loss to Highland Home. Underfinger will not play in this week’s contest, Ingram said.

Kick off in Red Level is at 7 p.m.
